Downstream Process Engineer (Fixed Term Contract/Secondment 9 months), Worthing
This is a site-based role at Worthing, within the Global Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) organization.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for developing, scaling up, commercializing, and troubleshooting downstream processes for the extraction and purification of small and large molecule APIs, intermediates, and enzymes from diverse engineered biology inputs.

Responsibilities:
* Apply scientific principles in laboratory settings to develop downstream process unit operations aligned with project goals.
* Evaluate business cases and support the introduction of new processes and technologies focusing on manufacturability, sustainability, and quality.
* Collaborate with analytical, cell line development, and upstream teams.
* Manage scale-up and technology transfer to pilot plant and manufacturing facilities.
* Analyze experimental data and present findings to project teams and stakeholders.
* Maintain high safety and good laboratory practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
* Graduate in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering or similar.
* Understanding of safe laboratory practices.
* Ability to innovate, collaborate, and work independently.
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
* Proactive data review and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
* Experience in pharmaceutical industry or process development.
