JOB DESCRIPTION
Our development team are looking for an experienced Clerk of Works to join the team covering the North of England on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the role
You will regularly visit Guinness construction sites, undertaking inspections to ensure development projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality and are fully compliant with current legislation and regulatory requirements.
You will maintain a strong focus on building and site safety, while ensuring projects are delivered cost‑effectively and within agreed timescales reporting any deviations to the Project Manager.
This role involves extensive travel to construction sites of varying sizes and complexities across the North, including locations such as Lancaster, Harrogate, Sheffield, and Manchester, so overnight stays will be required on a regular basis. To ensure timely travel to multiple sites, the successful candidate must ideally live within ten miles of North Manchester.
We are looking for an experienced Clerk of Works, with great customer service skills and proven construction experience.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
Proven construction experience in either a trade role or supervisory/ management role.
Knowledge of current building regulations.
Knowledge of modern methods of construction.
Proven customer service experience.
Good attention to detail.
Knowledge of contractual and non-contractual defects.
Technical construction skills.
Good oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Evidence on ongoing personal development.
Demonstrates the Guinness Behaviours.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum HNC/HND in Construction, Surveying of the Built Environment.
Member of the Institute of Clerk of Works (ICWCI) or CIOB, RICS.
Appropriate Construction Skills certification Card (CSCS) card.
Desirable Qualifications:
Degree-level qualification in either construction, surveying, or the built environment.
Site Management Safety Training (SMSTS).
