We are partnering with a leading global defence contractor who are investing in new disruptive technologies for advanced military hardware solutions and are seeking to strengthen their electrical design capabilities with some additional personnel.
Electrical Design Engineer: Special Purpose Vehicles
Salary: GBP 40,000 – GBP 50,000 + benefits
Location: West Midlands (hybrid working – commutable from Birmingham, Worcestershire, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Telford, Staffordshire region)
As a specialist Electrical Design Engineer you will be involved in the full product life cycle from requirements capture, defining specification and requirements, design of the product and assemblies, through testing and vehicle integration.
Duties
* Design, validate and test electrical systems for special purpose vehicles
* Plan architecture and layouts for each system and subsystem, creating electrical CAD drawings
* Prepare technical reports, design specifications and test plans for defined projects
* Liaise with component and systems suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met
* Provide engineering support to the service team with advice and remedial actions following investigations of product failures
Experience
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering
* Design experience of vehicle electrical distribution/wiring (EDS), systems, LV schematics/circuit design and systems-level product validation and testing
* Knowledge of electrical design for safety critical, high specification or accredited industries eg: military vehicles, commercial vehicles, off‑highway / construction vehicles, aerospace, rail or similar sectors
* Keen to solve problems from initial conceptual design, integration, test and validation stage
* Good understanding of design office practice and systems eg: 3D CAD, PLM
* Knowledge of EMC and MoD/Def Standards highly desirable
