The Audiology service in Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBU HB) is looking for a Clinical Scientist or Advance Audiology Practitioner to be a key member in the team delivering the tinnitus, primary care and adult rehabilitation audiology service.
The Audiology service in SBU HB provides hearing and balance assessment, advice and management to adult and paediatric patients in primary, community and hospital settings across the area.
Main duties of the job
The holder of this post will provide Audiology specialist assessment and rehabilitation, providing customised management plans in collaboration with patients. The post holder will provide support to multiple subspecialities within the Audiology service dependent on their experience, skills and agreed scope of practice.
The post holder will also have a significant role in training within the service and will assist the service in meeting and evidencing the audiology quality standards. They will lead and contribute to quality improvement, research and development as per service priorities. The post holder will manage their own work within their scope of practice.
The post is 37.5 hours per week. There are limited flexible working options available which can be discussed with the recruiting manager. The base will be Neath Port Talbot but the successful applicant will be scheduled to work at other sites within the Health Board area on a regular basis.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. MSc Audiological Science or equivalent level of knowledge
2. Post-MSc professional (specialist) training qualification or equivalent experience a in one or more subspeciality(appropriate for HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist).
3. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in Audiology
Experience
Essential criteria
4. To have worked as a qualified audiologist or as a clinical scientist in audiology
5. To have completed service development, clinical audits and clinical research
Skills
Essential criteria
6. Ability to communicate technical and scientific information to colleagues and manufacturers/ suppliers
7. Excellent manual dexterity for the control/repair of general specialist equipment
8. Competent in the use of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
Desirable criteria
9. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. Detailed understanding of one or more sub-specialities of audiology and of Audiological Quality Standards.
