A Secondary School in Plymouth is currently looking for a Cover Supervisor to join them for flexible cover. The school would ideally like someone to start this term, for a full/part-time opportunity that runs from Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 15:30. The specific days can vary, but there is consistent work available for the right candidate.
The school regularly needs Cover Supervisors to cover various classes across KS3 and KS4. Cover work would typically be assigned by the Class Teacher, but a good general understanding of most subjects would be beneficial.
They are seeking Cover Supervisors who are flexible and adaptable to different classes. You must be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4, and intuitive, as you will often be taking on pre-planned lessons and should be able to do so smoothly. Teaching qualifications are not necessarily required, but extensive experience working in schools is preferred. A degree in a specific subject, such as Maths, would be advantageous.
What will you do as a Cover Supervisor?
1. Supervise students actively, give clear instructions to stay on task, and respond to queries.
2. Communicate effectively with students to keep them engaged during cover lessons.
3. Manage behaviour in line with school policies, promoting positive conduct.
4. Demonstrate organisational and time management skills, and flexibility in a busy school environment.
5. Support and include all students with good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
6. Collaborate with staff to maximise student outcomes.
7. Report back to the teacher as needed.
