Mindful Surrey is seeking a volunteer to help raise funds to offer free mental health support to people on low incomes in the UK. We teach Mindfulness to help with stress, anxiety, depression, sleep and wellbeing.
What difference will you make?
Since 2018, Mindful Surrey has helped people on low incomes who are struggling with various aspects of their lives. In 2024, the need for mental health support has never been greater. There is very little free mental health care available, and extremely long waiting lists. By helping us raise funds, you can enable us to support a greater number of people who would otherwise continue to struggle and live difficult lives. We offer Mindfulness-Based Stress-Reduction (MBSR) courses, introduction courses, drop-in classes, and one-to-one sessions. Courses are available online and in-person in Dorking, Surrey.
With the cost-of-living crisis, more people need support. Mindful Surrey relies on fundraising to sustain free services for those in need. Testimonials from participants are available on our website and via Coursecheck.
What are we looking for?
The volunteer needs to have experience with successful grant applications, ideally connected to mental health projects. We are looking for someone with an innovative approach to fundraising, including methods beyond grant applications. The volunteer does not need any experience with mindfulness or meditation if they are open to mindfulness as an effective intervention; relevant experience with fundraising is most important.
What will you be doing?
We would like a volunteer to help raise funds through grant applications to support people with their mental health. Historically, the charity has received funding (e.g., £10,000) to offer free support to people on low incomes. We aim to raise about £10,000 a year to support adults and young people, mainly in the south-east. The volunteer will work with Catherine Nasskau, who runs Mindful Surrey and teaches the sessions. We welcome suggestions for other fundraising methods besides applying for grants.
Responsibilities
* Help identify and apply for grant funding to support mental health services for low-income individuals.
* Collaborate with Mindful Surrey leadership and teams to align fundraising with program needs.
* Propose innovative fundraising approaches beyond traditional grant applications.
* Engage with stakeholders and document impact and outcomes.
Qualifications
* Experience with successful grant applications, ideally in mental health projects.
* Innovative, proactive approach to fundraising.
* Open to mindfulness as an intervention; prior mindfulness experience not required.
* Strong fundraising background relevant to non-profit work.
