We’re seeking a visionary and passionate Head of RE to lead the Religious Education department at a thriving secondary school in Westcliff-on-Sea. This full-time, permanent role is available from September 2025 and offers a fantastic opportunity for a committed teacher to step into a leadership position—experience is welcomed but not essential.
As Head of RE, you'll have the autonomy to shape the curriculum, champion inclusive values, and drive academic and spiritual growth. The ideal candidate will be someone who leads with purpose, fosters respect for diverse worldviews, and promotes thought-provoking learning. Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop the RE curriculum across all key stages.
* Inspire students through inclusive, engaging, and reflective teaching.
* Monitor progress and outcomes, setting high standards for student achievement.
* Provide mentoring and support to RE staff and contribute to whole-school development.
* Promote the importance of Religious Education within a modern, diverse context.
* Contribute to assemblies, enrichment events, and cross-curricular initiatives.
* Engage in professional development and school leadership activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
* QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (essential).
* Degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
* Suitable for experienced teachers or confident practitioners ready for leadership.
* Strong communication and team leadership skills.
* Passion for inclusive RE and exploring global perspectives.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being.
* Desire to contribute to wider school culture and community.
