Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Cardiff
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only 8:0 – 4:30 pm Monday - Friday
Salary: £21,725 - £23,565, depending on experience and qualifications

Masterclass is working with a specialist SEN school committed to providing outstanding care and education to children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs. We are seeking a dedicated HLTA to play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences and ensuring the holistic development of their students.
Your Role:
* Support and lead planned learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff, adapting tasks to suit individual pupil needs.
* Provide specialist support to students with medical needs, including feeding, personal care, and support with mobility and positioning.
* Assist in the creation of a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
* Support with the preparation and use of specialist resources, sensory equipment, and assistive technology.
* Lead small group sessions and occasionally cover classes in the teacher’s absence.
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold HLTA status or an equivalent qualification/experience.
* Have experience working with children or young people with PMLD and/or complex medical needs.
* Be trained in (or willing to undertake training in) areas such as manual handling, epilepsy management, and personal care.
* Be resilient, patient, and empathetic with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Must have:
* Ability to work well independently and as a team
* Has a passion to support and empower children and young people
* A DBS on the Updates Service, or be willing to obtain one
* Commitment to safeguarding students and young people
* Holds GCSE’S in Maths & English grade A*-C 4-9 or equivalent
* Resilience to deal with challenging situations
