Job Description
6. The postholder will ensure that the Director of Communities makes the best use of their time by, as required and agreed, proactively managing demands on their time, such as providing diary support and supporting the delivery of meetings and engagements.
7. Provide confidential, positive, and efficient service for the Director of Communities with internal and external colleagues and their requests.
8. Establish and improve systems and processes to hold Heads of Service to account for progress and commentary for the HCS balanced scorecard, action logs, progress on action team action plans, progress against strategic, team and individual objectives, complaints promises and learnings, etc.
9. Take lead responsibility for support at formal meetings, including the Derwenthorpe meetings.
10. Take the lead in planning internal and external meetings, attending where necessary, preparing papers and background information to adequately brief attendees before meetings.
11. Be proactive in supporting the good management of incoming communications to the Director of Communities.
12. Be proactive in drafting correspondence, reports, minutes, briefings, and presentations as required.
13. Provide support to the Heads of Service in the directorate as agreed with the Director of Communities.
14. Provide project support for directorate, team or one-off projects including project administration as agreed.
15. The postholder will be required to work flexibly as needs evolve and to provide support across teams ensuring a seamless service.
16. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail-oriented, and adept at problem-solving, capable of navigating complex situations.
The Successful Applicant
17. Experience in providing a confidential support service to a director or Head of Service within a busy and complex organisation.
18. Demonstrable experience of working on your own initiative and making well informed decisions.
19. Experience of working in a complex organisation, with competing demands.
20. Demonstrable experience of project management.
21. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
22. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies and community organisations.
23. Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple pieces of work.
24. Demonstrated ability to approach sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism

25. Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (35 hours/week)
26. Salary: Circa £30K. Negotiable depending on experience.
27. Location: York-based office with hybrid working available. You must be able to drive as there will be some travel to other offices.
