About the role - you will:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced engineer, to lead and develop a program for the maintenance, and continuous improvement of our factory’s structural needs, space capacity, fabric and amenities. This role is vital to ensuring our site remains prepared, safe, efficient, and aligned with both internal operational standards and external regulatory requirements.
You will lead the development and execution of site-wide refurbishment and refresh programs, as well as manage small-to-medium scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in programme management, building services, contractor oversight, fire life safety systems, and compliance, along with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with professionals such as Contractors, Architects and Structural Engineers.
* Ensure the factory’s structural integrity, amenities, and fabric are maintained to a high standard.
* Develop maintenance programs and schedules.
* Work with the sustaining maintenance teams to ensure the upkeep of the various grounds, infrastructure and the fabric of the site
* Responsible for Fire Life Safety systems for building protection
* Lead minor construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
* Project Management: On larger projects, liaise with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of works.
* Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Manage budgets and procurement for facilities-related services and materials.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, and maintenance logs.
* Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across the site
About you:
* Provide and support a team culture to Facilities Engineering
* Proven experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or construction project management
* Strong understanding of building systems, structural upkeep, and compliance standards
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
* Familiarity with contractor oversight and project delivery in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
* Ability to create and present to senior management
Your experience includes:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Facilities, Estates, Construction or a related field AND / OR Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role or programme management.
* Practical construction experience in areas such as new build, office retrofit, refurbishments or expansion projects
* Knowledge of building construction, building control, estate management
* Proficiency in project management and delivering project quality and benefits
Desirable to also have:
* Familiar with planning process and dealing with local or government bodies
* Knowledge of UK building regulations and HSE standards
* Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Design capabilities
* Experience and understanding of fire life safety systems
