Conveyancing Assistant
We're looking for a Conveyancing Assistant to join our friendly and supportive residential conveyancing team, splitting your time between the Watford and London office. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working with different clients, and being involved in the full life cycle of property transactions.
This role offers a really broad scope of work — you won't be pigeon-holed doing the same task day in, day out. Instead, you'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of conveyancing matters, working with a lovely team who are collaborative, welcoming and happy to share their knowledge.
This opportunity is designed for people who want to build experience and develop their career within residential conveyancing. It is not designed as a track to trainee, but it does offer excellent exposure and long-term development in this area of law.
About The Role
As a Conveyancing Assistant, you'll work closely with qualified lawyers to help deliver a smooth, efficient service to clients. You'll be involved in residential conveyancing transactions from start to finish, supporting on everything from opening files and preparing contracts to completions and post-completion work.
You'll help submit searches, prepare Stamp Duty Land Tax returns, draft transfer deeds, liaise with clients, estate agents and mortgage lenders, and assist with registrations and file closures. You'll also support fee earners with correspondence, reports, applications and general case administration.
Because of the way the team works, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of clients and transactions, giving you a well-rounded understanding of conveyancing rather than a narrow snapshot. You'll use the firm's case management system day-to-day and be encouraged to develop your skills as your confidence grows.
About You
You'll ideally have some previous legal or office experience, with a genuine interest in residential conveyancing. You'll be organised, approachable and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines, with a strong focus on client care.
You'll enjoy working as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and clients, and getting involved in a range of work. You'll be confident using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), comfortable learning new systems, and have good typing and administration skills. Experience using a case management system would be helpful, but not essential.
This role is best suited to someone who wants to build long-term experience in residential conveyancing. If your goal is a training contract, we'd encourage you to keep an eye out for our Paralegal vacancies, which are designed to support that pathway.
