Buyer – Engineering & Industrial Supply Chain

Day rate: £150-180
Are you a commercially minded Buyer who driving value across diverse procurement categories? Do you have the agility to move between strategic supplier negotiations and purchasing admin support?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering organisation with a £10M turnover, supplying high-quality technical solutions to customers in multiple industrial sectors. Due to an influx in demand, they are looking to bring on board a Buyer who can support the team over the next 3 months.
The Opportunity
In this role, you’ll work across a variety of commodities and purchasing activities, supporting both day-to-day operations and project-specific requirements:
* Manage purchasing activities across a wide range of goods and services
* Assist with administrative tasks such as generating sales orders and maintaining procurement records
* Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, quality, and delivery performance
* Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships to support business goals
* Support project-related procurement, ensuring timely availability of materials and components
* Collaborate closely with internal teams to align purchasing activities with operational needs
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for someone who brings:
* 2–3 years of proven buying or procurement experience, ideally in an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Strong negotiation and communication skills
* The ability to prioritise workload and adapt to changing business demands
* Competence in procurement systems and Microsoft Office tools
* A proactive and collaborative approach to working across functions
