Job Description:
Responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the installation’s marine systems and associated equipment in accordance with design, UKCS legislation, classification society rules, and flag state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the installation’s marine systems with minimal environmental impact.
* Ensure thorough knowledge of the operating safety case and performance standards to maintain asset integrity.
* Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Marine Department requiring a work permit, ensuring safety precautions are followed.
* Identify risks in marine systems and establish procedures to mitigate them.
* Ensure understanding of safety requirements, work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policies, and instructions among all marine personnel.
* Coordinate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
* Provide guidance on safe working practices in compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS).
* Maintain accurate records, manuals, and drawings, updating and distributing as necessary.
* Review compliance with SMS and update documentation accordingly.
* Ensure compliance with performance standards.
* Operate the installation according to marine procedures.
* Liaise with Production and Maintenance Supervisors for safe operations and environmental compliance.
* Manage the safe isolation and reinstatement of process equipment following maintenance.
* Guide staff on safe marine operations.
* Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on planned maintenance tasks and report non-compliances.
* Complete marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, and tank content records accurately.
* Coordinate with onshore logistics for vessel routing and requirements.
* Communicate effectively with the Deck Foreman regarding vessel, helicopter, and tanker operations.
* Plan fuel loading as per procedures.
* Maintain tank inspection plans in line with RBI and verification requirements.
* Operate mooring and offtake systems properly.
* Verify load and offload plans for Marine Control Room Operators.
* Supervise Marine Control Room Operators and ensure systems operate within design parameters.
* Maintain records for cranes and refuelling operations.
* Perform other tasks as required.
People/Department Management Responsibilities:
Manage the department by providing oversight, guidance, and supervision, including:
* Conducting regular personnel appraisals and identifying training needs.
* Managing conduct and behaviors.
* Ensuring attendance at safety and operational meetings.
* Allocating workloads and monitoring progress.
* Managing on-board resources to promote efficiency.
