Liquid Personnel are proud to be working with Richmond and Wandsworth Councils to recruit an experienced and highly skilled Senior Social Worker & AMHP to join their Emergency Out of Hours Team (OOH).
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior, autonomous, and fast‑paced role where you will provide a generic social work service across children’s and adults’ statutory responsibilities, as well as undertaking AMHP duties out of hours.

As a Senior Social Worker & AMHP in the Out of Hours Team, you will:
8. Provide a generic emergency duty service to both children and adults outside of normal office hours
9. Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns, carrying out assessments and making risk‑critical decisions independently
10. Undertake AMHP duties in accordance with the Mental Health Act, coordinating MHA assessments during evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
11. Manage emergency referrals, ensuring all actions and decisions are clearly recorded for day‑time teams
12. Work closely with partner agencies such as Police, Emergency Departments, Mental Health Services, and on‑call managers
13. Arrange emergency placements for children or adults when required
14. Attend relevant professional meetings and participate in the AMHP forum, providing specialist input into practice development
Essential requirements of this Senior Social Worker / AMHP role:
15. Registration as a qualified Social Worker
16. Current Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status
17. Strong, contemporary knowledge of both Children’s and Adults’ statutory social work
18. Confidence to work independently and make high‑level safeguarding and Mental Health Act decisions out of hours
19. Experience in Child Protection, Adult Safeguarding, and Mental Health crisis work
20. Ability to drive and access to a car for out‑of‑hours travel
