About the Job Opportunity
These are key roles within the Estimating area of our Work Winning Department, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely Electrical / Mechanical / Telecoms / Instrumentation and Control Systems estimates, calculated in-line with the overall company strategy, CORE Values and goals, across a range of sectors including Rail, Power, Tunnels, Highways, Energy, Water, Defence and Construction schemes.
This role will be based across different project locations, you will be required to travel to other sites and offices as and when required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Supporting the Work Winning Team throughout the bid process. This includes the production of all necessary pricing schedules, preparation of rates and any other associated bid submission documentation, as required.
* Carry out accurate take-offs from Tender drawings and prepare detailed material schedules, for pricing.
* Provide sound commercial analysis of quotations received from sub-contractors and suppliers.
* Prepare Electrical / Mechanical / Telecoms / Instrumentation and Control Systems estimates from project specification documents, drawings, schedules and historical data, and produce accurate material, labour and sub-contract package allowances against same.
* Liaise with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors, to help build relationships both upstream and down.
* Keep an accurate record of quotations and supporting documents, to provide clear traceability, to aid the final review process.
* Carry out site visits and attend external meetings, when applicable.
* Attend (and conduct when required) internal Bid Review Meetings, with Company Directors.
* Present our Bids to Clients and their representatives, as and when required.
What we are looking for…
* Sound knowledge of a wide variety of Electrical / Mechanical / Telecoms / Instrumentation and Control Systems and engineering principles, including; HV and LV systems, CCTV, CIS and PA systems, SCADA, BMS, HVAC systems, Drainage and Pipework systems
* Knowledge of estimating best practices and methodologies
* Proficient knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Teams
* Good working knowledge of estimating software packages (Trimble, Countfire or similar)
* Previous experience in this type of role, as part of a busy and demanding team
* Experience working for a Mechanical, Electrical, Controls or Telecoms contractor
