How you'll make a differenceAs a Social Work Assistant, you will be working directly with disabled children and young people, their families and other networks. To ensure they have the best possible outcomes, you will provide support and inclusion to enable them to reach their full potential.You will be part of the larger 0-25 social care service and work within the 0-18 team. What you will be doingYou will organise and chair review meetings, prepare and share reports, as well as represent young people or the team/service at a variety of meetings relevant to the families allocated to you.Visiting children in a range of settings such as their home or school, you will develop positive relationships and gain an understanding of the child’s lived experiences.Working closely with agencies, providers, and family members, you will make sure that we have the right level of multi-agency support around a child and family.Reviewing plans created by social workers within the 0-18 team, you will make sure these are producing good outcomes for children and families.It will be your responsibility to gather and share information to inform reviews, assessments and plans for children and families open to the team, and ensure that the needs, voice, and views of the child remain central to all we do.You will be required to contribute towards Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP's). What we need from youIt is essential that you are qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent or working towards an appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.You will have experience of working in a statutory setting with children, young people and families.You must have an awareness and experience of risk assessment whilst preparing for and performing a task, and the ability to take appropriate action if risks are identifiedIt will be essential for you to have experience/knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including child protection, regulations and codes of practice, processes and procedures. What you need to knowPlease note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post for both Children and Adults.You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must have a full, valid driving licence and provide a car or have access to an appropriate means of travel.Business insurance will need to be added to your current car insurance policy.
