About The Role
You will be responsible for identifying and addressing risk in early-stage projects ensuring excellence in design for assembly, specification of equipment and enabling the design for new and pioneering Dyson products.
As a member of the RDD Global Manufacturing Engineering team based in Malmesbury UK, you will work in multi-disciplinary global project teams to define, specify, and deliver processes to produce Dyson products. You will be working with Dyson’s New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel processes to support and realise new product ideas.
The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical, and flexible person, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will act as a role model providing guidance and technical direction including a hands-on approach in our on-site manufacturing development facility working across multiple projects in all Dyson product categories.
You will:
1. Lead one or more projects in different product categories.
2. Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for bringing a product from design to reality through DFM/A developing processes.
3. Work closely with Research, Design, Development, Procurement, Quality and Operations teams to enable design and reduce risk in key technologies and assemblies.
4. Required to understand the intricacies of the design and influence project teams to develop solutions that meet key KPIs, including Cost, Technical Solution, and People Development.
5. Ability to work in a fast pace ever changing environment to deliver optimal solutions in the prescribed time frame.
6. Work closely with Operations Team to highlight risk and find mitigations.

9. There will be some travel required to work with downstream teams to support industrialisation of products.
In addition to this, you will:
10. Lead upstream development of projects.
11. Has technical responsibility for products manufacturability.
12. There could be at any one-time multiple projects running concurrently.
13. Track development of projects to prioritise business needs, whilst managing stakeholders.
14. Review project activities and maturity with project manager and design engineers to get consensus on risk and progress for milestone reviews.
15. Take an active role to ensure that all engineering problems are resolved thoroughly and validated through appropriate test methods, Proof of Principals and Design of Experiments.
16. You will be required to develop the processes as well as the equipment specs needed to assemble and test our products.
17. Establish a working rapport with teams outside the Engineering Team that is essential to New Product Innovation (NPI) and new product development (NPD).
18. Use established Dyson methodology, good engineering practice and discipline to deliver robust solutions in agreed time-frame.
19. Maintain supporting documentation to ensure accurate handover and to ensure up-to-date information for current production.
20. Own and contribute to team and department level initiatives and change projects.
21. Challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve technologies, design, and product quality.
About You
22. Bachelor’s degree in either Manufacturing, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience in industry
23. Must have strong willingness to learn new things and challenge the existing production test/assembly method
24. Good technical background
25. Shown to have a good “Engineering Sense” that could be applied in areas outside core expertise
26. Ability to work independently
27. Consistently shows dedication to own responsibilities and has built a reputation within their business as someone with integrity and dependability
28. Able to multitask while keeping an eye on critical deliverables
29. Good communicator; able to present update and challengers in a clear and concise manner in a spoken, written, and presentation setting
30. Excellent problem-solving skills that could be applied is various settings
31. Has operated in an outsourced environment, understanding the challenges and pit falls
32. Familiar with DFX, PFMEA and other manufacturing and product development processes
