Job Title: Governance & Quality Assurance Manager
Reports to: Directors (Academic & Operations) of VCAD
Location: London, Canary Wharf
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (on site)
Overview
We wish to appoint an experienced governance, quality assurance and compliance professional to our new post of Governance & Quality Assurance Manager - Victoria College of Art and Design (VCAD).
The creation of this role reflects VCAD’s commitment to developing excellent governance, quality assurance and regulatory compliance practices, as we move towards gaining Office for Students registration at our earliest opportunity.
Responsibilities
* Leading and Developing VCAD Governance & Quality Assurance processes and procedures
* Taking responsibility for ensuring that VCAD is fully and appropriately prepared to complete a successful Office for Students Registration process
* Delivering OfS registration for VCAD at the earliest possible opportunity
* Lead on developing, overseeing and implementing the VCAD Quality & Standards Framework and the VCAD Governance Framework.
* Advise and assist the VCAD Governors, Directors and other VCAD colleagues in ensuring VCAD is compliant with the Office for Students (OfS) Regulatory Framework.
* Ensure that VCAD policies and associated key documents comply with relevant UK legislation, as well as the regulations and directives of the Office for Students and other key higher education regulatory bodies.
* Service a range of appropriate VCAD committees including preparing agendas, collating papers, collaborating with Committee Chairs, taking and documenting formal minutes, and ensuring that follow-up actions are completed on time.
* Develop an authoritative knowledge of VCAD’s quality assurance and governance mechanisms and on that basis, provide appropriate advice to VCAD colleagues and Governors.
* Develop authoritative knowledge of national regulation and advisory bodies, including the Office for Students, HESA, Quality Assurance Agency, and the Competition and Markets Authority.
* Write coherent and easily understood guidance documents on various policy and governance themes for distribution to VCAD personnel and Governors.
* It is expected that the post-holder will be a professional and well-organised individual, capable of managing their workload, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, and handling sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
* Manage and lead a small Governance and Quality Assurance team.
* Collaborating positively and collegiately with our partner universities.
Qualifications & Experience
* A Bachelor’s degree or significant and equivalent work experience relevant to the role. (E)
* A good working knowledge of legislation, regulation and statutory guidance concerning Higher Education in England and the UK. (E)
* Team Leadership experience (E)
* Confidence and ability in the use of a range of appropriate software programmes and platforms (E)
* Experience in servicing meetings including writing agendas, writing papers, minute taking and managing follow-up on actions. (E)
* Experience of playing a key role in Higher Education Quality Assurance procedures such as programme validation, partnership agreements, curriculum review and OfS Application. (E)
* Strong spoken and written communication abilities, with a particular skill for presenting complex information in plain and easily understood English. (E)
