We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference, nurturing the whole child, and supporting high‑quality teaching and learning across the school. Teaching and Learning HLTA 32.5–36 hours per week, 38.6 weeks per year Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement for all pupils, including those with SEND Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities Support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at enabling all pupils to achieve their full potential Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy and procedures Support class teachers in maintaining good order and discipline, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment Organise and manage teaching spaces and resources to create a stimulating and safe learning environment Observe pupil performance and share relevant information with the class teacher Supervise a class in the teacher’s absence Use IT skills to enhance pupils’ learning Undertake any other relevant duties as directed by the class teacher Planning Contribute to effective assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress Read and understand lesson plans prior to lessons, where available Prepare the classroom for learning activities Use subject or specialist expertise to support planning and preparation of learning activities, including planning your role within them Use allocated time to devise clearly structured, motivating activities that advance learning Plan for the inclusion of all pupils in learning activities Working with Staff, Parents/Carers and Professionals Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, parents and carers under the direction of the class teacher Share knowledge and understanding of pupils with colleagues and external professionals to support informed decision-making about interventions and provision Contribute to meetings with parents/carers by providing feedback on pupil progress, attainment and barriers to learning, as directed Work with the class teacher to keep external professionals informed of pupils’ progress or concerns Understand your role within the classroom and wider school to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers and specialist colleagues Collaborate with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school Build and maintain effective professional relationships Health and Safety Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils, following Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance and the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies Support children who are upset or who have had accidents Professional Development Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding by reflecting on practice, liaising with school leaders and identifying relevant professional development Take opportunities to build skills, qualifications and experience with the support of the school Participate in the school’s appraisal procedures About The Good Shepherd Trust On 1 March 2024, Cranleigh C of E Primary School became part of The Good Shepherd Trust (GST) — a multi‑academy trust serving 23 schools across Surrey and Hampshire.
