We currently have a Tankered Waste Operative position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Hayle. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary of £25,299 per annum plus excellent benefits.
About the role
As the Tankered Waste Operative, you will ensure the tankered waste facility within our Sewage Treatment Site operates in compliance with SWW's legislative responsibilities, including health, safety, and wellbeing of staff and visitors, processing Waste Transfer Notes, routine sampling, and customer recharging. You will also support the site team in delivering reactive and planned maintenance tasks for the Waste Water Treatment Works.
What you'll be doing:
1. Monitor commercial tankered waste import activities to ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and permits.
2. Complete and store Waste Transfer Notes accurately.
3. Reject non-compliant loads, notify the waste management team, and document the incidents.
4. Perform routine sampling and submit documentation to the laboratory.
5. Notify the Site Manager or Pilot immediately if waste discharge contravenes site permits.
6. Maintain cleanliness and safety around the waste area.
7. Follow company policies and procedures.
8. Support the operation and maintenance of the treatment process and site.
9. Prioritize safety in all tasks, applying high standards of health and safety practices.
What we are looking for:
* 5 GCSEs A-C or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science.
* Technical training in wastewater treatment, engineering, or operations is advantageous.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to develop professional relationships across all levels.
* Ability to identify and implement best practices.
* Flexible approach to workload and hours.
* Willingness to travel regionally.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
