Title: Technical Lead
Location: Manchester (Hybrid, up to 4 days WFH) | Salary: £60,000-£70,000

Spectre Websites helps estate agents showcase their business online by offering an easy way to build professional‑looking websites in minutes, without any technical skills.
As a Technical Lead on Spectre Websites you will lead a small cross‑functional team, contributing to discovery and ideation, and working alongside designers, product owners and engineers to identify, prioritise and solve problems iteratively. We expect you to stay hands‑on, leading from the front to ensure we build the right thing in the right way. You will also collaborate with other Technical Leads and Engineering Managers to guide wider‑scale improvements to our platform.
Responsibilities
* Support, lead and coach a small but highly talented cross‑functional team
* Build a best‑in‑class piece of software while remaining hands‑on
* Drive best programming practices and lead the team on that journey
* Build tools and systems that process large data volumes quickly and consistently
* Collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, customers, and commercial colleagues to build the best product we can
Qualifications
* Experienced Lead Developer with strong expertise in PHP, Laravel and JavaScript, and a desire to remain hands‑on
* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP
* Experience building and working within distributed systems
* Passionate advocate for best practices and continuous improvement
* Experience building and operating production systems at scale
* Ability to guide people on a journey to build better solutions
* Strong empathy, communication and collaboration skills
* Commitment to empowering your team and finding the best solutions together
£60,000-£70,000, dependent on experience.
