Practice nurse
Posted: 29 June
Offer description

We are looking for a proactive, positive, supportive, and reliable qualified Practice Nurse to join our current Nursing team. We welcome interest from newly registered Band 5 Practice Nurses (conversion to General Practice Nursing available if necessary) or Specialist Band 6 Practice Nurses with a particular interest in Chronic Disease Management.

This is an exciting time for us in general practice. As we continue to improve and adapt, we have some exciting opportunities ahead.

Main duties of the job

The role includes all aspects of clinical nursing such as wound care, cervical cytology, vaccinations, and immunizations. Specialist nurses will have additional responsibilities including long-term condition reviews, particularly in Respiratory.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be a Registered Adult Nurse (RGN). As a Training Practice, we are willing to consider applications from all suitable applicants depending on ability.

We are committed to supporting self-development to help individuals reach their personal goals.

About us

General Practice is evolving rapidly, which we see as a positive and opportunistic challenge. We are proud of our supportive working environment. Island City Practice was formed following a merger between Lake Road Practice and Sunnyside Medical Centre, providing efficiency of scale.

Our list size is 37,500 patients. We employ over 100 staff, including 8 GP partners, 10 salaried GPs, 1 nurse practitioner partner, 1 managing partner, and multiple allied health practitioners.

Our patients rate us as an 'Excellent' '5-star' practice based on feedback reviews.

SystmOne is used for patient notes, shared across community healthcare teams to improve communication and patient safety.

We offer a Clinical Assessment Service similar to telephone triage for paramedics, A&E attendees, and 111 callers, which allows us to prescribe or book appointments and dispatch ambulances if needed.

Our in-house services include LARC, joint injections, occupational health, medicals, and acupuncture.

We are an established training practice hosting FY2s, GP VTS, paramedic and nurse practitioner trainees, as well as medical students, with strong links to Portsmouth Medical School.
