The Opportunity Due to continued growth within the utilities sector, a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor is seeking to appoint a Lead Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its team on a major Capital Delivery Framework within the water industry. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career, or for an established Managing Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge. The Role Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of water infrastructure projects while supporting the development of the wider commercial team. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and support commercial team members through coaching, training, appraisals, and ongoing professional development. Foster a collaborative environment where commercial and operational teams share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned. Set, monitor, and review individual performance objectives across the commercial team. Ensure team members fully understand and fulfil their roles and responsibilities. Provide contractual and commercial advice to project and operational management teams. Review subcontractor performance and support the expansion and development of the supply chain. Prepare, negotiate, and administer subcontract agreements. Monitor commercial governance processes and ensure compliance with company procedures. Work closely with the Operational Lead to identify commercial risks, opportunities, and project performance improvements. Ensure project data is accurately captured and reported. Undertake subcontract valuations, assessments, and payment authorisations. Requirements Essential Experience HNC, HND, or BSc qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. A minimum of six years' Quantity Surveying experience within the civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or water sectors. Previous experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor, or similar level. Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts. Proven commercial management experience within either a main contractor or subcontractor environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Experience Experience working on water infrastructure frameworks or utility projects. Previous experience managing or mentoring commercial teams.
