Job Overview
Applications are invited for a Medical Secretary in the ENT Department at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Only staff currently employed by the Board will be considered. The role supports the medical secretary team, working closely with administrative, secretarial, nursing and medical colleagues. It involves audio typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries and other medical records, filing and related administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide efficient administration and secretarial support to the team.
* Audio type clinical letters, discharge summaries and other medical records.
* Filing and handling other administrative tasks in a busy office environment.
* Organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
* Assist in the facilitation of patients along a defined pathway.
* Support coordination of administrative arrangements to provide a high‑quality service to the consultant, medical and nursing team.
Desirable
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
* Experience within the NHS.
* Minute‑taking skills.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent.
* RSA/OCR level 2 or equivalent; proficient user of Microsoft Word.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Knowledge or experience of administrative processes.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* AMSPAR – City & Guilds Level 3.
* NVQ Customer Service Level 3.
* Experience within the NHS.
Skills
* Professional and effective communication with staff at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Planning, organising and prioritising own workload.
* Minute‑taking (desirable).
Knowledge
* Evidence of continual personal development.
Language Requirements
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
