AI Engineer
London (Hybrid – 3 days a week in office)
Up to £100,000
About the Company
We’re supporting a global, market‑leading wellness and fitness organisation that is scaling its AI capabilities at pace across multiple international markets. With a mission centred on improving people’s lives through wellness, the company blends technology, data, and modern engineering practices to enhance member experience, drive commercial growth, and unlock operational efficiency.
The organisation has recently invested heavily in a cutting‑edge AI function, with a mandate to design, build, and deploy end‑to‑end AI solutions that solve meaningful, real‑world business problems. This is an environment where AI engineers work hands‑on with cross‑functional teams and where shipped solutions make a tangible impact across digital products, marketing, operations, and member experience.
The Role
They’re now hiring an AI Engineer to join a growing AI team delivering production‑grade AI systems across the business. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and applied data science — ideal for someone who enjoys building real products, not just prototypes.
You’ll work end‑to‑end: from problem framing and data preparation, through modelling and experimentation, to deployment, monitoring, and iteration. You’ll collaborate with teams across Digital, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Governance to translate business challenges into robust, ethical AI solutions.
If you want to build AI systems that genuinely impact users, unlock commercial value, and scale across multiple markets, this offers a rare level of ownership and breadth.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a hands‑on builder of AI‑powered products from idea to production.
* Combine software engineering, data engineering, and ML/LLM skills to deliver scalable solutions.
* Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate with real stakeholders and real data.
* Work closely with business teams to identify opportunities and define success criteria.
* Translate real operational problems into actionable AI solutions.
* Build models using classical ML (e.g., tree‑based methods, forecasting, uplift) as well as LLMs and generative AI.
* Develop predictive solutions such as churn, propensity, next‑best‑action, and lead scoring.
* Build APIs, services, and integrations enabling AI models to power real products.
* Embed AI into digital journeys, CRM systems, member apps, and internal tools.
* Manage the full lifecycle of models: deployment, monitoring, alerting, retraining.
* Build scalable pipelines and ensure reliability, performance, and efficiency.
Requirements
* Proven experience in applied data science, ML engineering, or software engineering with strong AI/ML responsibility.
* Proven track record delivering AI/ML solutions into production.
* Experience working closely with business teams such as Marketing, Product, or Operations.
* Background in one or more of: personalisation, customer analytics, conversational AI, recommendation systems, optimisation, or marketing analytics.
* Deep understanding of ML fundamentals across the full lifecycle.
* Hands‑on experience with ML frameworks (scikit‑learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LightGBM).
* Strong exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and evaluation frameworks.
* Familiarity with MLOps tooling: CI/CD, experiment tracking, model registries, monitoring, containers.
