Responsibilities
* Welcome patients and visitors in a polite, professional, and compassionate manner.
* Handle patient enquiries both in person and over the telephone.
* Provide information about practice services, policies, and procedures.
* Schedule, cancel, and amend patient appointments using the clinical system.
* Ensure appointments are booked appropriately according to patient needs and GP availability.
* Maintain and update patient records accurately on the practice system.
* Process repeat prescription requests and pass them to clinicians for review.
* Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters, and internal messages.
* File and scan medical documents as required.
* Handle all patient information with strict confidentiality in line with GDPR and practice policies.
* Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and other staff to support daily operations.
* Escalate urgent issues or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate clinician or manager.
* Provide high‑quality service by listening to patients and addressing concerns appropriately.
* Manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
* Open and close the reception area following practice procedures.
* Ensure waiting areas are tidy, safe, and welcoming.
* Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
About Us
Nightingale House Surgery is a well‑established GP practice providing high‑quality primary healthcare services to the local community. Our current patient list size is approximately 6,000. The practice offers a wide range of services, including chronic disease management, minor surgery, immunisations, women’s health, and health screening. We work closely with local hospitals, pharmacies, and community services to ensure continuity of care for our patients.
The Team
* General Practitioners (Three GPs): Providing clinical leadership, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of health conditions.
* Practice Nurses (Two) and Health Care Assistants (Two): Supporting chronic disease management, vaccinations, health checks, and patient education.
* Practice Manager: Overseeing daily operations, staff management, and the quality of services.
* Reception and Administrative Team (Twelve Staff Members): Acting as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, prescriptions, and patient records.
* Clinical Pharmacists (Two) and Physician Associate (One): Supporting prescribing, medication reviews, and patient follow‑ups.
