About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join an ambitious New Factory Build / modernisation programme, a major site transformation project running over the next 10 years. This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a long-term construction and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) programme, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure and facilities upgrades within a highly regulated engineering environment.
You'd play a key role in defining technical requirements, coordinating delivery activities, and ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget using sound engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day efficient running of construction and M&E projects in collaboration with the Site Modernisation Manager
- Monitor project progress and proactively implement changes to mitigate risks to schedule, cost, or delivery
- Confirm and manage technical requirements in line with overall project objectives
- Maintain master project documentation related to programme timing and costs, working closely with the Project Manager and subcontractors
- Develop and maintain safety documentation using approved templates to ensure full compliance with HSE requirements
- Attend and contribute to meetings covering site activity, safety, engineering, programme timing, and cost control
- Liaise effectively with external contractors and internal support functions
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Electrical and/or Construction-related qualification
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies
- Good working knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical installations
- Ability to interpret construction, mechanical schematic, and electrical schematic drawings
Desirable:
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Project Engineer or Project Coordinator (construction or facilities management preferred)
- Apprenticeship served in a relevant engineering discipline
- AutoCAD experience

- Strong team player with the confidence to engage professionally with stakeholders at all levels
- Able to work effectively within a busy project team and independently when required
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings and deliver presentations
- Willingness to travel within the UK as required, with occasional overnight stays and limited European travel
- Competent IT skills at intermediate level, particularly in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
