Clinical Fellow (ST3+) -Cardiac Rhythm Management
We are excited to offer a high-quality Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Fellowship at Musgrove Park Hospital--an excellent opportunity for ambitious cardiology trainees looking to advance their expertise in cardiac devices, pacing, and complex electrophysiology pathways.
In West Somerset, Cardiology Services are provided at Musgrove Park Hospital for a local catchment population of approximately 360,000. In addition, some secondary cardiac services are provided for the population of East Somerset, which serves a catchment population of approximately 170,000.
The inpatient facility comprises a 9 bed Coronary Care Unit with an integral cardiac catheter department with 3 Siemens catheter Labs. There are 12 day case beds and 6 recovery beds attached to catheter lab, a cardiology day case unit incorporating a radial lounge. The department has its own dedicated outpatient facilities and 4 echo laboratories. In addition, the cardiologists supervise the care of cardiac patients on Fielding.
The department performs around 1500 diagnostic angiography studies a year.
Main duties of the job
Participate in device implantation and pacing procedures
Run weekly outpatient clinics, Cath Lab sessions
Support inpatient cardiology referrals and Junior Colleagues
Contribute to clinical research and trials
Attend MDTs and cardiology meetings
Engage in audit (MINAP/BCIS) and clinical governance

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* ALS provider
* MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
* Experience in pacemaker implantation
* Experience in pacemaker and ICD programming
* Experience with echocardiography
* BSE accreditation
Additional Criteria
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical diagnosis and care of patients
* Clear, logical thought processes displaying an analytical/scientific approach
* Evidence of ability to mentor staff, both medical and nursing
* Understanding of NHS, clinical governance & resource constraints; management/ financial awareness; experience of committee work
* Active involvement in audit with demonstration of improved outcomes/change
