This Opportunity:
Palladium is growing its health systems strengthening and global health security portfolio, and is seeking an experienced Health Manager to join its UKEA team to support business expansion and program implementation. Joining Palladium’s Health Cluster, the Manager will bring business development, project management, and technical skills to this role.
The primary focus of this role (60%) will be to drive business development (BD) for new opportunities in health internationally. In their BD capacity, the Manager will identify new leads—emphasizing client diversification—oversee capture and bid pursuits, manage bid teams, contribute strategic and technical content to program design, and produce high-quality proposal content. Alongside BD, the Manager will support the successful delivery of ongoing and new programs (40%) in project management and technical oversight.
While primary responsibilities will be within the Health Cluster, Palladium team members at all levels work extensively and collaboratively across the company. The incoming Manager will contribute to other clusters and regions within Palladium to advance growth, build relationships and visibility, develop innovative approaches, and create dynamic teams.
Location:
The position is based in Palladium’s London office within our UKEA region. While visa sponsorship may be available, preference will be given to qualified UK-based candidates. Palladium operates a hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Manager will work within UKEA’s health cluster, reporting to a London-based UKEA Health Director.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development (60%)
* Support the identification and assessment of new business opportunities, focusing on health systems strengthening and global health security.
* Gather market intelligence, including research on thematic issues, countries, clients, partners, and competitors.
* Support client diversification strategies to expand business with various clients.
* Manage business development pursuits from start to finish.
* Support health program design and develop key proposal content, including technical and commercial proposals.
* Contribute to client relationship-building through technical positioning papers, facilitating engagement activities, and external interactions.
* Maintain up-to-date business development data in corporate databases.
Programme Delivery (40%)
* Manage new and ongoing projects, supporting in-country teams with work planning, subcontracting, risk management, compliance, and financial oversight. Ensure project delivery meets client expectations and internal standards.
* Contribute to client relationship management and reporting, including quarterly and annual reports and reviews.
* Contribute to broader technical delivery and monitoring and evaluation efforts as relevant.
Key Competencies Required:
* Proven success in securing new health sector business, including client engagement and proposal development.
* Understanding of health systems strengthening, with emerging expertise in global health security preferred.
* Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
* Programme management excellence with international project experience.
* Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and clients.
* Attention to detail and quality in outputs.
* Ability to manage and train staff.
* Problem-solving skills and solutions-oriented approach.
* Willingness and ability to travel to low- and middle-income countries.
Professional Expertise:
* Experience with bilateral donors, UK government agencies, or multilaterals.
* Experience managing FCDO-funded programs or technical assistance in developing countries.
* Financial analysis skills using Excel and reporting systems.
* Proficiency in another language, particularly French.
