Accounts Assistant (Temporary Contract)
Location: Office-based (Birmingham) Tyseley
Hours: Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch); Friday 09:00 – 13:30 (no lunch)
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Reports to: Finance Manager
Rate: £19 - £24 per hour

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Assistant with strong Sage 200 expertise to support our finance team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will take the lead in setting up and implementing the Cash Book module within Sage 200, while also providing support on Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. This role requires a proactive, hands-on individual who can balance project leadership with transactional finance support, driving process improvements and delivering robust solutions for the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Cash Book Project Leadership
* Lead the setup, configuration, and rollout of the Sage 200 Cash Book module.
* Work closely with finance, IT, and external Sage consultants to ensure smooth integration and accurate data migration.
* Develop and document efficient processes for cash management, reconciliations, and reporting.
* Deliver training and provide ongoing support to finance team members during the transition.
* Accounts Receivable Support
* Assist with AR processing: invoicing, credit control, allocations, reconciliations, and credit notes.
* Review outstanding balances and support process improvements in Sage 200.
* Provide backup cover for AR tasks as required (including answering calls and taking messages).
* General Finance & Systems Support
* Act as a Sage 200 super user, troubleshooting issues and sharing best practices.
* Identify opportunities to enhance system usage and team efficiency.
* Contribute to finance deliverables during peak workload periods.
Candidate Profile
* We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, with the following skills and experience:
* Proven track record of working with Sage 200, ideally in a project or systems implementation role.
* Strong knowledge of cash management, reconciliations, and AR processes.
* Experience in system configuration, testing, and user training.
* Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver within deadlines.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Hands-on, detail-oriented, and adaptable to both project and transactional finance needs.

Rate: £20-£24 per hour
