What happens when you bring together ultra-fine mechanical movement, high-speed optics, real-time software, and razor-sharp electronics — and try to make them behave like one coherent, perfectly balanced system?
That’s the puzzle.
That’s the platform.
That’s the job.
We're looking for a Senior System Architect to sit at the centre of a technically wild, cross-disciplinary product — a precision hardware platform used in one of the most advanced and fast-evolving industries on the planet.
This isn’t architecture in the “draw a block diagram” sense. This is steering the whole machine — defining how every subsystem connects, performs, and evolves.
🔍 What You’ll Be Driving
* Architecting the next generation of an ultra-precise, multi-domain measurement system.
* Translating mechanical, optical, software, and electronics inputs into one elegant, integrated design.
* Setting the technical vision and roadmap — not just for what works now, but what’s possible next.
* Leading the way on trade-offs, interfaces, tolerances, and performance limits — and helping teams make the right calls early.
* Acting as a cross-functional unifier between R&D, applications, and engineering — guiding what gets built and how.
* Embedding clarity and structure into a complex product — through documentation, interface control, and systemic thinking.
👀 Why This Role?
Because there are very few places where:
* You get to work across all four engineering domains — mechanics, optics, code, and circuits.
* The stakes are high, the tech is real, and your decisions have product-wide impact.
* You’re not just a cog in a machine — you’re the person defining how the machine works.
This is a role for the systems thinker. The integrator. The architect who can zoom out to see the whole, but who still knows what goes wrong when a cable bends wrong or a latency slips past tolerance.
⚙️ What You Bring
* You’ve led or owned system architecture in a complex hardware product — maybe instrumentation, robotics, aerospace, or semiconductor tools.
* You speak the language of mechanical precision, optical alignment, firmware behaviour, and analog noise, even if you’re not coding or building.
* You know how to work across disciplines — and how to align passionate experts behind a single, smart system.
* You’ve got roadmap vision, performance intuition, and a love of clarity in documentation and design.
Curious?
We don’t expect a perfect match — we’re looking for interesting, interested, and architectural at heart. Let’s talk.
