PURPOSE OF THE JOB Working within a BBC Charity setting, with a workforce of circa 150 EFT, the Senior Advisor will provide expert support, advice and training, on all aspects of working with children, across all areas of the Charity. WHY JOIN THE TEAM
At BBC Children in Need everyone is deeply aligned with the charity’s mission, creating a strong sense of purpose and unity. Raises awareness of potential safeguarding risk by proactively researching new areas of work or emerging themes alongside investigating complaints, safeguarding concerns and alleged incidents.
Work in partnership with teams across the Charity during the planning stages of productions, activities and events and advise on safeguarding including grant making, fundraising and content production and including all ‘working with children’ activities.

Extensive safeguarding knowledge: Strong understanding of legislation, statutory guidance, codes of practice, and procedures, with the ability to advise on legal compliance and risk management.
Practical safeguarding experience: Direct involvement in managing safeguarding concerns within diverse organisations, including experience of making referrals to statutory agencies and handling sensitive information with discretion.
Leadership and culture-building: Proven ability and experience in promoting a safeguarding-first culture, influencing organisational practices, and developing and implementing effective safeguarding policies and procedures.
Training and communication skills: Experienced in designing and delivering safeguarding training for staff and volunteers, and skilled in presenting clear, professional communications to internal and external audiences.
Professional qualifications and analytical ability: Holds relevant diplomas (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH) and memberships (e.g. CIOSH, CIEH), with strong skills in analysing complex issues and creating practical solutions.
If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
