Offer description

Overview

The Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport (ALMT) Program is responsible for the Bureau's business relationships with service delivery partners, government stakeholders, and both domestic and international customers operating in the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport sectors. In particular, the ALMT Program is the sole provider of aviation meteorological services to the aviation industry within the Australian Flight Information Regions. Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs) require pilots to plan flights using Bureau products. The Bureau's aviation services also contribute to meeting Australia's obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Team and Role

The Service Delivery Optimisation team is responsible for providing a world‑class operating environment for the service delivery teams within Aviation Operations. This includes deepening our people’s understanding of the aviation industry, fostering continuous learning, capability building, ensuring quality management systems and processes are in place, and contributing to the operationalisation of product, process, and technology change.

Responsibilities

As the Aviation Operations Quality Management Support role, you will support a small team responsible for the development and implementation of Aviation Operations policies and procedures within the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport Program. You will contribute to the continual improvement and certification of the Aviation Quality Management System (ISO9001:2015) and coordinate action plans to address non‑conformances. The role will coordinate operational meteorologist input into policy reviews, manage regulatory reporting and advice, and support engagement with key aviation stakeholders including the Meteorological Authority, Airservices Australia, and CASA. You will champion innovative communication and collaboration practices and build strong relationships across the Bureau.

Qualifications

The position requires a high level of communication and coordination skills, as the occupant will be required to collate information from internal and external stakeholders into a suite of templates, reports, and other documentation as appropriate. Reporting to the Aviation Operations Policy and Procedures Lead, the successful applicant will work alongside the Aviation teams to deliver outstanding value to the Australian and international Aviation industry.
