Shrewsbury / Hybrid Working£38.00 per hour37 hours per weekContract: 01/06/2026 23/10/2026Inside IR35We are currently recruiting for an experienced Developing Highways Manager to support a busy local authority highways and planning team on a temporary basis.This is an excellent opportunity for a highways professional with strong experience in development control, planning applications, and highway development management within a local authority environment.The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to planning applications on behalf of the Local Highway Authority and supporting the delivery of highway development and infrastructure improvements across the county.Key Responsibilities: Providing professional highways and development control advice on planning applicationsReviewing and assessing new developments and highway impactsSupporting S38, S278 and S106 agreementsRepresenting the Highway Authority at planning committees, inquiries and meetingsLiaising with developers, consultants, councillors and internal stakeholdersMonitoring development sites and ensuring compliance with highway requirementsSupporting highway asset management and economic growth strategiesManaging highways development-related budgets and reporting on risk and programme deliveryResponding to complaints, FOI requests and member enquiries where requiredAbout You: We are looking for candidates with:Extensive highways development and development control experienceStrong knowledge of planning processes and highway legislationExperience responding to planning applications on behalf of a Local Highway AuthorityKnowledge of S38, S278 and S106 agreementsExcellent stakeholder management and communication skillsLocal authority experience preferredHybrid working is available, with approximately one day per week office attendance to be agreed.To apply, please send your CV to Lynx Employment Services.TPBN1_UKTJ
