Role Description
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the daily operations of the restaurant, which offers breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner service. This role works closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure smooth shift transitions, uphold high service standards, and maintain efficient team performance. The position requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences in a welcoming and professional dining environment.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, including breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner service.
* Lead and support the front-of-house team, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism during all shifts.
* Supervise and participate in the set‑up, execution, and breakdown of each meal service to maintain a seamless guest experience.
* Address guest enquiries, complaints, and special requests, ensuring a positive resolution and maintaining guest satisfaction.
* Collaborate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and efficient food and beverage service.
* Monitor staff performance, provide on‑the‑spot coaching, and support team training initiatives.
* Assist with staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts while optimising efficiency.
* Help manage stock levels, inventory, and ordering to support daily operations.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and company policies.
* Act as the point of contact in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, ensuring smooth operations and decision‑making.
* Contribute to achieving financial goals by monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and suggesting improvements.
* Promote teamwork, positivity, and a collaborative working environment among staff.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
* Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple shifts and service styles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with both guests and team members.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenges with professionalism.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations, health and hygiene standards, and restaurant operations.
