Base Location: Havant, Reading, Perth, Glasgow

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 plus performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The role holder will be responsible for maintaining and developing SSE’s cybersecurity policies and standards, ensuring these frameworks are robust, up-to-date, and aligned with current appetite and regulatory expectations. Through leadership of policy lifecycle management and continuous improvement, the role holder will drive effective cyber risk management and support compliance across all operational areas, enabling SSE to strengthen its overall cybersecurity posture.


You will

* Lead the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and standards, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organisational goals.
* Oversee the full policy lifecycle - from drafting and consultation to approval, communication, training, and scheduled review and updates.
* Drive cross-functional collaboration across group, corporate and business teams to strengthen cyber risk management, align controls, and foster a culture of security awareness and accountability.
* Monitor the external landscape for changes in legislation, regulation, and work with our threat intelligence function to proactively update the organisation’s policies and standards.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives within cyber policy and standards, advocating for streamlined processes, robust controls, and appetite-driven decision making.
* Provide expert guidance and training to staff at all levels, ensuring that policy requirements are understood and effectively implemented throughout the organisation.


You have

* Excellent cyber security experience with exposure to policy and standards management.
* Ability to deliver a cyber policy and standards framework that balances appetite with control, and drives a culture of responsible risk management.
* Excellent knowledge of risks and threats to the UK energy sector and security issues, techniques and implications across digital platforms, control systems and customer data.
* Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with SSE staff at all levels up to senior leadership and across all business units and organisations, and to understand business priorities.
* Ability to deliver complex messaging and data in a simple, concise manner using policies and standards.
