Shift Mechanical Engineer needed for a well-known Facilities Management organisation based in Smethwick who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Shift Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work.
The successful candidate must have a recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level along with post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment.
Good knowledge and understanding of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems is also essential.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Shift Mechanical Engineer will include:
* Responding proactively to reactive jobs to diagnose, fault find, and repair complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards, operational procedures, legislation, and guidance.
* Obtaining Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation, complex water systems, and medical gas installations.
* Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks across the site on various building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
* Minimising penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues per the contract requirements.
* Assisting with installation work involved in minor upgrades and adaptations.
Experience required:
* Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level.
* Post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment.
* Previous experience working within a maintenance environment.
* Good knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical systems including ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating, and domestic water systems.
* Previous Competent Person/Authorised Person experience including ventilation and/or pressure systems (Desirable).
* Experience working within a healthcare maintenance environment (Desirable).
* Knowledge of electrical systems (Desirable).
