Cultivate is dedicated to supporting a resilient local food economy and is the host of Bwyd Powys Food, the sustainable food partnership for Powys. Cultivate supports our community by nurturing local businesses, promoting sustainable land management, and connecting people to local food. The vision of Bwyd Powys Food is "Good food for Powys Where local, sustainable and healthy food supports communities, its people and the environment". This vision is delivered on through the Powys Food Strategy and Action Plan. Within the Powys Food Strategy and Action Plan, Action 32 is to build strong, short supply chains by developing local distribution networks. This role is to contribute towards delivering this action across the whole of Powys.
We are looking for a highly motivated, organised person to join the Cultivate Team to deliver on this action.
Job Description
● To develop relationships with partners, growers and customers across Powys to develop and strengthen local distribution networks.
● To support the creation of a food hub in Hay and develop and expand a food hub in Newtown.
● To identify and vet producers, and facilitate their integration into local food networks, to include training suppliers on the use of relevant software (e.g. Open Food Network) for local food distribution.
● Work with suppliers to develop new product lines to satisfy demand
● To assist with the establishment and coordination of equipment and resource sharing for local supply chains.
● Monitor the quality of produce and deal with complaints
● Organising staff and volunteer drivers for the network
● To assist with promotion of the food hubs across all online and offline platforms.
● To work closely with other members of the Sustainable Food Places network to share knowledge and experiences related to supply chain development.
● Organising pick-up and delivery routes including co-ordinating collections and deliveries between partner organisations
● Managing the health and safety of those you are supervising.
● Manage connections with processing facilities and producers

● Passionate about local, fresh and seasonal produce E
● An ability to build relationships with customers and suppliers E
● Experience of spreadsheets and databases E
● An organised and systematic approach to your work but with the capacity to be flexible E
● Ability to deal with a crisis in a calm and creative way, a lateral thinker P
● Experience with supply chain logistics or distribution P
● Experience of coordinating volunteers P
● Experience in the food sector P
● An entrepreneurial approach to growing your own role P
● Able to drive and have use of your own vehicle for occasional business use. Willing to travel around Powys E
● A desire to support the Cultivate team and Bwyd Powys Food partnership to succeed in the various linked projects E
● Ability to speak, read and write in Welsh P

Pay: From £28,668.00 per year
