Speech & Language Therapist
Hours: Full time
Salary range: £38,682 - £43,323 (Band 6 equivalent) Based on qualifications and experience.
This is a full-time permanent position; however, the opportunity to work part time on a three/four-day basis will also be considered.

Responsibilities
* Carry out functional assessments of language and communication using both formal and informal approaches.
* Set individualised targets, write intervention plans, and deliver therapy across specialist, targeted and universal levels.
* Share information in a way that is accessible and practical for a range of staff members.
* Deliver regular training sessions to support the use of communication strategies across the waking day, ensuring consistent and holistic support for the young people.
* Embed therapy within the day-to-day environment and work closely with a wide range of staff, including teachers, learning and care staff, the behaviour support team and occupational therapy.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, building strong relationships and supporting others to implement therapeutic approaches throughout the day.
* Contribute to service development, including leadership of shifts in practice (e.g., AAC systems, aided language stimulation, neuroaffirming approaches).
Qualifications
* Qualified HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
* Experience of working with young people with autism and complex learning difficulties.
* Experience providing specialist support to individuals with learning disabilities and/or complex needs.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to lead or support service development as required.
* Confident in communicating with a range of staff and delivering staff training.
About the School
The Loddon School is a residential school for 30 young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. The school offers a unique approach to therapy and education, and you must demonstrate a keen interest in working collaboratively and creatively to support communication within an educational and residential environment. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with regular clinical supervision included.
Additional Information
Therapy at Loddon aims to be fully embedded within the day-to-day environment. You will work with teachers, learning and care staff, the behaviour support team and occupational therapy to support the young people’s communication, wellbeing and participation.
The school is developing its speech and language therapy provision, with new AAC systems, a shift towards aided language stimulation, and a commitment to becoming more neuroaffirming in practice. You will be creative, flexible and responsive to staff feedback.
