Mechanical Technician – Southampton (Permanent)
Our client, who are based in Southampton and are a global leader in flow control solutions, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician whose responsibility is rotating equipment maintenance activities as directed by the responsible engineer. This will be consisting of removal, dismantle, inspect, repair, re-build and commission of rotating equipment - both corrective and preventative. You would be working closely within the team to deliver the highest quality of repair on time, to budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
Key Responsibilities:
* To ensure customer satisfaction by achieving delivery targets on time and minimizing customer complaints and rework activities.
* Carry out duties in full compliance with and customer HSEQ procedures, including compliance with key safety values & be proactive in reporting and resolving any concerns, participate in investigation & reporting of accidents & incidents.
* Work with Supervisor/Manager to ensure accurate and on-time completion of equipment repairs and completing strip down reports, assembly re-build records and test requirements to meet daily, weekly or monthly work schedule.
* Follow site inductions, risk assessments and toolbox talks, taking appropriate action to maintain the highest standards of Safety and Quality in accordance with safety methods.
* Follow technical method statements with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to a high degree of accuracy.
* Ensure on time completion of reports, assembly and tests to meet department K.P.I’s.
* Measure and record dimensions, tolerances and clearances as required.
* Be proactive in reporting and resolving any concerns, reporting any accidents and incidents.
* Ensure all permit-to-work, and other work order card procedures are in place prior to and during operations.
* Willingness to undertake any ad hoc or unskilled jobs which are necessary.
* Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
* Measure and record all dimensions/tolerances/clearances as required.
* Ensure all work is completed within budgeted allowable hours and ensure Field Service and client timesheets are completed, approved as required and submitted.
* Accountable for the quality of all works undertaken.
* Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that your area (Site & Workshop) of responsibility is always inspection ready, using 5s and LPS techniques.
* Attend pre-job briefs given by the Supervisor to ensure tasks are clearly understood.
* Carry out requirements prior to commencing tasks and ensure all relevant criteria is met
* Ensure understanding and compliance with permit to work requirements and that’s tasks are correctly assigned to a safety permit.
* Refer problems/clarifications whilst carrying out the work to the appropriate Supervisor.
* Ensure Field procedures are always adhered to.
* Ensure all equipment in the work area is maintained to a high standard where appropriate liaising with supervisor/leading hand.
Requirements:
* Relevant experience as a Mechanical Technician.
* Experienced with various rotating equipment.
* Flexibility to share on-call rota responsibilities.
* Medically fit to fulfill role and complete confined space, D&A and medical certification.
