Job Summary
Band 6 – Lead Pharmacy Production Officer – Technical Services, Systemic Anti‑cancer Therapy (SACT). We are looking for a highly motivated Pharmacy Production Specialist to join our Technical Services team at Royal Stoke University Hospital. Our team continuously re‑engineers services to improve the delivery of patient‑focused pharmaceutical care and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the SACT service within the aseptic and chemotherapy unit in line with GMP standards.
* Organise, prioritise and coordinate workflow within the unit and liaise with pharmacy clinical teams.
* Assist in operation and maintenance of quality management systems, ensuring compliance with MHRA Manufacturing “Specials” Licence.
* Support staff development by providing training, supervision and line‑management as required.
* Promote the service at Trust, regional and national forums, including posters at conferences, and contribute to wider projects and business development opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
* NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) qualification, or an undergraduate degree in chemistry or biological sciences (minimum 2:1).
* Registered or eligible to be registered with the GPhC, Science Council (SMT), Royal Society of Chemistry or Royal Society of Biology.
* GCSE Maths and English Language (grade C or above) or equivalent.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
* GCP and ICH certification.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Extensive hospital pharmacy technician experience.
* Knowledge of dispensing clinical trials and understanding of the clinical trials process.
* Strong grasp of GMP for medicinal products, particularly with respect to aseptic facilities and operations.
* Experience giving staff training and supervising or line‑managing staff.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* Willingness to pursue self‑development and expand knowledge.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Management experience and/or staff recruitment and appraisal.
* Experience in procuring medicines and stock control.
* Previous experience managing a team.
Salary & Benefits
Agenda for Change pay scheme. £38,682 to £46,580 per annum.

Permanent, full‑time, part‑time or flexible working.
