Job overview The post holder will work as part of a team of registered nurses, nursing associates, health care support workers and student nurses in delivering safe effective care to patients within the Cancer Assessment unit (CAU) working in collaboration with the medical and wider MDT teams, ensuring a high-quality service to patients. The post holder will participate in roles within the unit relevant to role as competencies are developed working in both the Cancer Assessment Unit and covering Chemotherapy Hotline Service. Please note there is 2 roles under this vacancy - The department is looking to recruit to a 6 months fixed term contract and a 10 months fixed term contract. Main duties of the job The post holder will lead the team of registered nurses, nursing associates, health care support workers and student nurses in delivering safe effective care to patients within the Cancer Assessment unit (CAU) in collaboration with the medical and wider MDT teams, ensuring a high-quality service to patients. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the Chemotherapy Hotline service ensuring it is adequately resourced, and audit of the service provided. For both documents, please view the attachment/s below. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Registered Nurse, Degree qualification in Nursing or cancer related subject. Practice Assessor / supervisor qualification / teaching qualification IV therapy competency REACT / SIREN or equivalent Desirable criteria Working towards master's Qualification Advanced communication Leadership Course ILS Trained Tracheostomy competency SACT qualification UKON's triage trained Experience Essential criteria Previously working as a Band 5 Experience of working in an acute environment, acute wards, A&E type setting with highly developed assessment skills Experience in chemotherapy hotline triage and ability to give effective information and guidance. Desirable criteria Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role Patient Assessment module Knowledge Essential criteria In depth knowledge and understanding of cancer patient clinical issues and common oncology emergencies and their management Broad understanding of how an assessment unit works and how a chemotherapy hotline service should function Knowledge of audit and data collection Desirable criteria Willingness to undertake any further training and development relative to the role Skills Essential criteria Patient Focused Excellent Communication skills Effective prioritisation skills Ability to adapt and change in an ever-changing situation / environment Demonstrate we care values in all aspects of care provided SACT competent UKON's trained AOS accredited Visa Sponsorship Information Recent changes to UK immigration policy on the Health and Care Visa and Skilled Worker Visa could mean that this role is not eligible for sponsorship or that you may not meet the eligibility criteria.
