Job Summary
East Kent Hospitals requires a Principal Clinical Scientist in Haemostasis and Thrombosis to support operational delivery, staff training, method development and review of clinical guidelines. The ideal candidate will have part 1 FRCPath, an MSc or PhD in Clinical Haematology / Haemostasis, and HCPC registration. Training will be provided to complete part 2 FRCPath. The laboratory is part of the South East Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre and processes over 30,000 samples annually, providing nationally required assays for non‑accidental injury screening.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will independently deliver complex specialist scientific work, contribute to quality management and train clinical scientists and biomedical scientists. The role involves participation in Kent and Medway journal clubs, clinical meetings and collaboration across the Kent and Medway Pathology Network.

Person Specification
Essential
* Good honours degree in a relevant subject (1st or 2nd class).
* Successful completion of STP or equivalent clinical scientist training programme.
* HCPC registration.
* Part 1 FRCPath.
* Extensive recent experience in a haemophilia laboratory as a HCPC registered clinical scientist.
* Teaching experience and ability to develop staff capacity.
* Research and innovation skills.
* Strong analytical and data‑interpretation abilities.
* Good organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
* Quality management, health & safety and risk management awareness.
* Budgetary awareness.
* Knowledge of haemostasis, thrombosis and recent developments in haemophilia diagnosis & treatment.

* Part 2 FRCPath (or working towards).
