Overview
Provides leadership and management of our Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit in accordance with current legislation, Pharmacy, Trust, local and National Standards. The unit produces over 3000 items a month mixed between ready to use and named patient dispensed and is in the process of a planned refurbishment as part of a longer term process of replacement. It has a highly dedicated team and is supported by an in house Quality Assurance/Control service as well as extensive clinical pharmacy and clinical trials service. An opportunity to work with brilliant and passionate team has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced pharmacist to make a difference to patients’ outcomes and wellbeing as the lead for our Aseptic services. This role is open to all persons with or without aseptic service experience with relevant skills to learn, develop and a passion for leadership. We see the role as a stepping stone to further develop essential skills for more senior pharmacy roles in leadership, governance and quality management. This is a band 8b role a component of which is the role of Accountable Pharmacist, in which the successful candidate is supported by an experienced Production Manager and Quality Assurance team.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit.
* Oversee production of over 3000 items per month, balancing ready‑to‑use and named patient dispensed products.
* Support planned refurbishment and long‑term replacement projects.
* Collaborate with in‑house Quality Assurance/Control and clinical pharmacy services.
* Develop essential leadership, governance and quality management skills.
Qualifications and Career Pathway
This role is open to all persons with or without aseptic service experience with relevant skills to learn, develop and a passion for leadership. The role may be considered as a stepping stone with progression possible from 8a to 8b against agreed milestones. The candidate will develop knowledge and skills within the role clinically and operationally through support from specialist pharmacy colleagues and nationally recognised training and qualifications.
