Programme Overview:
Scotiabank offers an outstanding opportunity for students to gain real hands-on experience through our Global Capital Markets Summer Internship programme commencing in June 2026.
This 10-week programme is designed for students in their penultimate year of study who are eager to learn and have a passion for financial markets.
Capital Markets spans a number of predominantly client facing business functions, and as such, we encourage applications from broad array of disciplines. From risk taking trading roles, to client relationship management (typically known as ‘Sales’ or ‘DCM’ functions), and from developed to emerging markets, Scotiabank’s rotational-style programme offers a truly exceptional foundational experience for any candidate with a keen interest in markets.
As an intern, you will gain exceptional insights into the daily workings of several specific Capital Markets desks including:
1. CMF: Collateral Management & Funding
2. Debt Capital Markets
3. Emerging Markets Relationship Management/Sales
4. FX Relationship Management/Sales & Trading
5. Global Equity Sales & Trading
6. Global Fixed Income Relationship Management/Sales & Trading
7. Prime Services
What You Can Expect:
During the programme, you will:
8. Shadow traders to learn risk management techniques, and develop key trading/market making skills in a live market environment
9. Be immersed in real-world business development and client acquisition experiences, offering a firm grounding in a truly global client base spanning; official institutions, bank treasury desks, global asset managers, pension funds and alternative asset managers
10. Interact with stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations
11. Complete a variety of key business-line projects which includes preparing market commentary, analysing client trading data, and other ad hoc tasks
12. Within relationship management, understand client investment patterns/behaviours to add value to our clients’ portfolio decisions
13. Develop an understanding of Scotiabank’s products, services, risk appetite and risk culture
14. Deliver a final presentation to leaders within Capital Markets
Programme Highlights:

16. Peer to peer intern presentations

18. A CSR project that supports one of our charity partners
Upon completion of the internship, exceptional interns will be considered for entry onto our 2027 Global Capital Markets Rotational Graduate Programme where they will rotate across several desks with the goal of obtaining a permanent position within Global Banking and Markets.
Who We’re Looking For:
19. You are a penultimate year university student graduating in 2027
20. We welcome applications from any degree discipline
21. Available for a 10-week internship between mid-June to end of August 2026
22. You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets
23. You are able to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues
24. You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
25. You have the ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
26. Eligible to work in the United Kingdom
