Overview
Purton Surgery is looking for a part-time Practice Nurse to join our 5-strong nursing team. We have 9 GPs, a prescribing Nurse Practitioner, 2 Health Care Assistants, fully supported by a comprehensive administration and reception team to look after our 11,000 patients. 16 - 24 hours per week, salary dependent on experience.
Main duties
To be responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice, the NMC code of conduct and professional boundaries to the patient population. The practice nurse will be responsible for several clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, health promotion, chronic disease management and health prevention, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure.

Job Responsibilities
JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE
Reports to: Nurse Lead (Clinically) and Practice Manager (Administratively)
Hours: 16 - 24 hours per week
Specific duties include:
* Wound care management and assessment of routine wounds including trauma and post-operative cases; support good wound management in complex situations
* Treatment room services: see & manage patients in booked treatment room sessions, arrange appropriate management and follow-up, liaise with team members
* Administration of injections; childhood & travel immunisations; dressings and wound care; cervical screening; phlebotomy (usually by HCA/phlebotomist, but venepuncture may be needed when demand requires)

* Attend meetings indicated by the nursing team leader (clinical, governance, significant events, prescribing)

Service Delivery
* Support the smooth operation of the practice nurse team, including planning for nursing cover for holidays, study leave and sickness
* Ensure correct use of medical equipment, report problems and seek training as needed
* Take on delegated responsibilities such as checking medical bags, health & safety tasks, stock checks, and equipment reviews
* Order and maintain stocks of drugs and supplies
