Role
The position is to provide personal care assistance to a 17-year-old female client who presents as a newborn with cerebral palsy and is non-ambulant. Responsibilities include assistance between 7:00 am and 8:00 am to help with getting up, personal care and dressing, and then assisting the client to the school bus that stops outside her house.
Responsibilities
* Assist the client with morning routine (getting up, personal hygiene, dressing) from 7:00 am to 8:00 am.
* Help the client to the school bus and support safe transfer using a hoist or wheelchair if required.
* Provide supportive care and companionship, being mindful of the client’s hearing and sight conditions.
* Interact positively and humorous with the client and family dog.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience with hoists and wheelchairs preferred; training will be given if necessary.
* Reliable, caring attitude with a good sense of humour and flexible approach to work.
* Possession of an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
* Knowledge of the client’s personal preferences (e.g., does not enjoy hair being brushed).
