The Role – Pastry Commis Chef
We are seeking a dedicated Pastry Commis Chef to join the pastry team. Working under experienced senior chefs, you will assist in the preparation and execution of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea items for both the restaurant and the hotel's wider offering.
This role is ideal for someone early in their pastry career, or a Commis Chef looking to specialise in the pastry section.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the preparation of pastry items, desserts, breads, cakes and afternoon tea components
* Support the Pastry Chef and senior team in day-to-day mise en place
* Maintain high levels of organisation, cleanliness and stock rotation
* Follow recipes precisely to ensure consistency across all pastry products
* Learn new techniques and contribute to a smooth, well-run pastry section
* Uphold strict standards of food safety, allergen control and hygiene
* Support service periods as required, including plating and finishing desserts
About You
* Some experience in a professional kitchen (pastry experience desirable but not essential)
* Genuine passion for pastry, desserts and baking
* Keen to learn, develop and progress within a structured, supportive team
* Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
* Calm, reliable, and committed to high standards
* A positive team player with a proactive, can-do attitude
