Chief of Staff (12-Month FTC – Maternity Cover)
📍 London - Hybrid
💰 £86,500 + benefits package
A rare opportunity to operate at the heart of a high-impact, globally minded organisation
We’re supporting a highly respected, purpose-driven organisation in the search for an exceptional Chief of Staff to join on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a pivotal role at the centre of executive leadership, offering unrivalled exposure, influence, and the chance to shape strategic delivery at scale.
This position will suit an ambitious, high-calibre operator looking to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, mission-led environment, someone motivated by outcomes, not titles, and comfortable working behind the scenes to enable success at the very top.
The role: pace, complexity, and real influence
Acting as a trusted partner to a high-profile, visionary CEO, you will operate across strategy, execution, and organisational effectiveness. This is a uniquely dynamic role where no two weeks look the same, balancing long-term strategic priorities with the immediacy of executive demands.
Key responsibilities include:
* CEO Enablement: Acting as an extension of the CEO - ensuring seamless delivery of high-quality briefings, materials, and outputs for a demanding external engagement schedule
* Strategic Delivery: Driving implementation of a newly approved 4-year strategy - coordinating across senior leadership and ensuring momentum and alignment
* Organisational Effectiveness: Elevating internal standards, pace, and responsiveness - embedding a more structured, high-performance approach to executive support
* Governance & Leadership: Overseeing board and governance processes while supporting senior leadership team (SLT) effectiveness
* Team Leadership: Managing a small but impactful team (3 direct, 7 indirect reports)
What makes this role different?
This is not a conventional Chief of Staff position.
You’ll be stepping into an environment that is:
* Highly dynamic: Shaped by international events, board cycles, and external engagements
* Ambitious and evolving: Undergoing a shift towards a more structured, high-performing executive support model
* Globally oriented: With increasing international reach and influence
Success in this role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, embraces variety, and can seamlessly shift between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
The ideal profile
We’re looking for a standout individual with the judgment, energy, and versatility to operate at this level.
You will likely bring:
* Proven experience in a Chief of Staff / strategy / executive support capacity, or a similarly fast-paced, high-exposure role
* Exceptional organisation, diligence, and attention to detail - with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver at pace
* The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and “wrangle” complexity across an organisation
* A low-ego, high-impact mindset
* The ability to pivot between strategic and operational work without hesitation
Highly desirable:
* Experience within the charity, non-profit, or philanthropic sector
* Exposure to international environments or global programmes
Key requirements
* Availability: Immediate start or max 1-month notice (essential for a critical handover period)
* Location: London-based, with hybrid working (approx. 50% in-office)
* Mindset: Energised by pace, variety, and impact - not routine
Why apply?
* Work directly with an inspiring, high-performing CEO
* Play a central role in delivering a major strategic agenda
* Gain exposure to high-profile global initiatives and networks
* Join a collaborative, ambitious culture with real flexibility and strong benefits
