The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. The Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA), one of three schools in the Defence College of Support (DCSp), delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Catering, and Personnel Administration. We are predominantly based at Worthy Down - a newly built, modern campus in Winchester.
We are currently recruiting for 2 storekeepers to join our team within the Worthy Down Support Unit (WDSU), providing equipment to our trainees and permanent staff.

Job description
As a Storekeeper your main responsibilities will include:
* Assist in the management of day to day running of the store
* Issuing and receipting equipment to personnel
* Ensure that the items are stacked safely and correctly
* Maintaining documentation for store accounting and auditing
* Adhere to MOD Health & Safety policy
* Assists in the delivery of stores
* Operate a pedestrian operated palletizer/forklift
* Assist in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the department
* Operate efficiently, the Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) managed accounts, including Demands, Issues and Receipt of materiel accurately and efficiently, in accordance with in-Service
A storekeeper role requires a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry furniture, boxes of rations and equipment round the store (also load/offload vehicles), and place retrieve items and boxes from shelving that may be above head height. In accordance with HSE guidance, the recommended maximum manual handling weight that applicants can expect to lift is men (25kg) and women (16kg).
Person specification
We are looking for someone with good attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team. You will have day to day engagement with staff members of all Services and grades so good communication skills (both written and oral) will prove successful combined with IT proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Teams). You will also need to be able to demonstrate time management and interpersonal skills.
